SPR hold monthly contests for members to participate in. March 2022 was Upcycle Contest: take one or more existing garments and making them into something totally new.  I joined the contest with 10 days left to make something. I went to my local Op Shop where an embroidered denim mini skirt caught my eye, I found a taffeta dress that complemented the red of the embroidered flowers so I bought both to up cycle into something new. Sewing Patterns   cataloging app Review I lost the app I was using to comprehensively catalog my patterns a couple of months ago when an iOS update I did on my iPad was no longer supported by the app. This was because the developers had not bothered to update the app in years. No warning, just gone. I discovered this while shopping for fabric and trying to work out how much I needed for the pattern I planned to use.  So I took this as an opportunity to cull and resort my patterns which I have been collecting for over 20 years.  This alone took a longtime but was a very enjoyable experience to reacquaint myself with the patterns and sort them into defined sections in my pattern cabinet. Then I had to make a complete list ready to upload into a new app. Now I had to “audition” potential app’s for suitability. I did some research and consulted other social media forums for options. Honeycomb Handbag

HONEYCOMB HANDBAG  I have been making my own handbags for years now, since I bought my first iPad I could not find a suitable handbag that had a place to fit it. I mostly use only one handbag as I hate transferring stuff from one bag to another just to be fashionable. This year I stepped up the look of my bag by getting faux leather from Emmaline Bags. I chose metallic purple which is my favourite colour with complementary colours turquoise and silver. I bought a metre of the purple and the turquoise and half a metre of the silver. I used a purple and turquoise cotton print for the lining I got at Spotlight. Hardware and zips also from Emmaline bags. First toile I started working on the design of this bag in January 2020 but go nowhere fast. I did a lot of procraftinating and making toiles and finally came up with a workable bag.  I made the bag up in drill to test how it functioned and too see if everything was accessible the way I wanted.  After two main toil
