Viva Paper Towel

VIVA PAPER TOWELL VIVA PAPER TOWELL the unsung result of mixed media collage. When I create anything with paint involved I always clean up using Viva brand paper towels. Why you ask?  because often the towel produces a better background for artwork by accident than when I try to plan it.  The absorbency and strength of Viva mean the dried towel is perfect to add freehand machine embroidery and embellishments to.  You can iron Vlisofix or interfacing to the back to stabilise it, tear it up and collage it, cut out shapes, stencil, draw and add more patterns.  painted Viva Paper towels Techniques for colouring Clean dirty brushes with a dry or damp Viva towel by rubbing the bristles into a towel.  Clean up the surface of a palette. If lots of paint remains then use several towels. If the palette has only a little paint remaining then wet the towel first and rub it over the surface to clean and absorb the paint. Cityscape Art Quilt

Cityscape - Art Quilt  Dare to Differ is a quilt exhibition held every two years in South Australia. It is designed t o push t he boundaries of the contemporary art quilt  with the use of fabrics and other materials like paper, plastic, sheer fabrics, embellishments, texture and printing.  The interpretation of the guidelines i s up the the entrant. This is my idea and the process it takes to complete my entry for this exhibition. Inspiration One the drive home from Adelaide I thought about this challenge, I liked the idea of a cityscape with the layers of buildings pr...

Pyrolysis & Perfume

"Essence, All that makes Us what We are" The Fibre Artist Network of South Australia had a group exhibition in 2013 titled "Essence" a self portrait textile exhibition open to interpretation. Each participating member created an art work exactly 60cm by 80cm with the theme of self portrait.  The artist could determine what makes up their "Essence". The exhibition was on display in the Pepper Street Arts centre in Magil Adelaide. My art work titled "Pyrolysis & Perfume" is a combination of two images. One is of me wearing breathing apparatus (BA) used by the Country Fire Service (CFS) and the other is a head shot.  The CFS is a volunteer organisation overseen by the South Australian government. It trains people from all walks of life who usually live in a rural or remote are to become fire fighters. In an emergency the volunteers respond to bush fires, motor vehicle accidents, storm damage, building fires etc. We don't get pai...
